Dale presented an installation piece entitled

"Altar for the Ancestors of Light"

Drawing on new and old traditions of the origins of light, this installation provides a pausing place to contemplate and appreciate that which brought us light. From the Rig Veda and the Old Testament to microwave anisotropy and matter/anti-matter asymmetry to Home Depost and Urban Ore the Altar lets there be light

"A Way"

A video exploration of the meeting of fire and water.

"Clerestory, Transitory"

(with Scott Minneman and images by Will Clougley, John Scarpa and Larry Ackrman)

A manipulation of the upper section of the gallery with moving silk, light and projections to suggest architectural archetypes and explore the many meanings of "sanctuary" -- from harems to cathedrals.

BIO

Dale MacDonald is trying to figure out what he doesn't do. Prior to arriving at the fabled-Xerox PARC in 1985 he developed new processes for manufacturing CMOS non-volatile memories, built, and performed with, his own electronic musical instruments and spent a lot of time at the beach. Since then he has made more CMOS processes, co-designed equipment for processing large-area electronics, studied the work practices of electronics designers, built systems for large, public, interactive displays, done corporate and non-corporate performance art, hacked a ton of code in too many languages, designed lights for dance, museums, rock and roll, and installations, been president of the Asian American Dance Performances Board of Directors, and completed an MFA in Art Practice at the University of California, Berkeley.
